Omaha Zoo!

June 1, 2009 -- Dad was traveling to Omaha for a work trip so Tate and I decided to tag along so we could all go to the zoo. Mom asked Dad to be sure to check the weather before we left so when we arrived and it was raining Mom was not very happy but we resolved to go ahead and go. We trucked through the rain for about 30 minutes and then it cleared off and ended up being a pretty nice day.

We saw tigers, bears, penguins, monkeys, giraffes, etc. We also went through a huge dessert dome with an eerie nocturnal exhibit and then went through a dirt trail indoor rainforest. Mom was a big fan of the zoo, it was well worth the money -- it was only $11.5 to get in and parking was free. You could get close enough to the animals to actually see them, this spooked Mom a little.
Most all of the exhibits were fantastic but Tate enjoyed one in particular, the Scott aquarium. The glass tunnel aquarium housed a huge coral reef with baby sharks, stingrays, and lots of colorful fish. Tate got a stuffed Tufted Puffin Penguin (that's a mouthful) as a keepsake.

Dad loved us traveling with him and Tate did great sleeping so we will have to do that more. Although we had it nice because the hotel was brand new so I didn't worry as much with him crawling on the floor. Still gross though :(!

Mom and Dad are excited to go to the San Diego zoo now to compare. A trip to the Omaha zoo will definitely be a yearly tradition.

FYI: We toured the whole zoo in a little under 3 hours. We felt pretty dang good about that. You could easily spend the whole day there but we were on a time crunch.
