Sept. 22, 2009 -- Mom and Dad came home from a 5-day trip to Boston two days ago. Tate went to his Nana/Poppy's & Grandpa Jeff/Judy's houses while we were gone. According to the g-parents Tate was an excellent little boy. He was like clockwork with his schedule. That was so nice for Mommy to know that she could leave him and he would still do so well with his schedule. When we dropped him off he did great really didn't make a peep. We called 3-4 times a day, not too bad for our first time leaving him at least we thought. We even talked on the phone a few times although Tate didn't say anything. We (especially Mommy b/c she hadn't left him overnight before) had a very hard time leaving him but was reassured that it will get easier the next time. We shall see! When we picked him up on Monday he was excited to see us but also ready for his nap. He seemed so much taller and talked more. Tate said "yes", "go" and "ball" plain as day after we said them.

Mom and Dad did enjoy their trip and took a ton of pictures. Boston is such an amazing city not only from the history standpoint but the water surrouding it and the beautiful brick sidewalks and brilliant architecture. We were both stunned. We traveled by subway most of the time and it was very clean. We didn't eat at any restaurants that wowed us but did enjoy the seafood. We had a wonderful time at a Red Sox game and got to do some shopping -- Mommy & Daddy were both happy! From this trip we both definitely realized that having a baby has added so much more depth to our relationship. This time was good to reflect on the past year and how much we had changed in our character. Also it was a time to really hone in on what type of character/values we wanted to instill in Tate. We both knew what we wanted but hadn't actually communicated it to one another so it was good to be on the same page. Not to mention that we had some time to focus on our relationship and making special time for each other. So very successful weekend in terms of our family's future! Thank you for all the prayers for safe travels.

Congratulations on surviving your first trip without Tate! I am so proud of you for doing it. I still haven't had the courage to leave Ashlyn over night yet but I am getting there soon. How wonderful to spend some time with your husband and best friend. Boston sounds wonderful! :-)
